We kick off 2018 with our annual Argentinean-themed feast, a collaboration with pit master Tim Laursen of Smoak Barbecue. The charred flavors produced on an outdoor wood-fired grill will be paired with the wines of Vinca Minor. Winemaker/owner Jason Edward Charles will present his range of soulful red wines, from Carignan to Cabernet, and a stunning rose, showcasing exciting terroirs across Santa Cruz Mountains and Mendocino's Red Wood Valley. Recently feature in Bon Appetit's "11 Natural Wines that Taste As Good as They Look."
Atria hosts a culinary celebration in partnership with the James Beard Foundation. This star chef-studded evening of food and wine will benefit the JBF Impact Programs, committed to establishing a more sustainable food system through education, advocacy, and thought leadership. Atria's executive chef Christian Thornton has invited a number of guest Island chefs and farmers to present this memorable culinary extravaganza. The event will include a six-course food and wine pairing.
Jared and Tracey Brandt of Donkey and Goat honed their craft while working for natural wine master Eric Texier in France's Rhone Valley. They founded their own operation in 2004, which reveals the potential of American winemaking. Based in Berkeley, Donkey and Goat remains committed to natural farming and low intervention winemaking, focusing on Rhone-style blends. The husband and wife team will host this dinner. Chef Georgia Macon of San Francisco's Tartine Bakery and Behind the Bookstore will lend her culinary talents to this French-Inspired tasting menu.
The wines of The Spire Collection express the unparalleled terroir from some of the finest vineyards around the world. Featured wineries are essentially an as-good-as it gets list of New World royalty: La Jota, Verite, Lakoya, Cardinale, Mt. Brave and Maggy Hawk to name a few. Advanced Sommelier Tom Gannon will lead this epic celebration of California Cabernet. Featuring Molly Levine formerly of Berkley's famed Chez Panisse and Behind the Bookstore will serve as the evening's guest chef, collaborating with Chef Thornton to create culinary magic.
The latest winemakers to settle in Oregon's Willamette Valley are bringing new perspectives, fresh energy and heartfelt enthusiasm. We'll explore a range of producers from Hogshead Wine Co. including Omero Cellars, Minimus, Bow & Arrow, and Crowley, paired with the cheese, meat, and produce of Grey Barn Farm in Chilmark. We'll focus on two movements — one local, one far away — each a handmade expression of place. Hosted by Grey Barn owners Molly and Eric Glasgow, along with wine importer Kevin Foran.
Our season will culminate in a dinner that befits the occasion: Burgundy, arguably the most compelling wine region on earth. This spectacular evening of French food and wine featuring top domaines throughout the Cote d'Or and Mâcconnais. An intricate pairing menu featuring local ingredients will explore Burgundy's rich history, culture, and terroir, featuring the wines of Benjamin Leroux, Domaine des Croix, Lignier-Michelot, and other rock stars of this storied region. Hosted by Peter Wasserman of the legendary French wine exporter, Becky Wasserman & Co.
